150 hours of classroom theory (approximately)
148 hours of practical application
Approximately 1-2 hours of homework each day depending on the student's learning ability.
On site. Students are expected to perfom the following prodedures in the time allowed:
- Modern trend hair cut
- Blow dry/ curling iron set
- Permanent wave
- Hair colouring: virgin tint, semi-permanent colour, colour retouch.
- Foil application
- Roller set/comb out
- Blow dry style
- Thermal set
Students are also assessed on General trade practices including: proper handling of implements, draping shampooing, sanitation practices, pre-service procedures and post service procedures.
ATTENDANCE & DRESS EXPECTATIONS
Students must be a registered apprentice working in a salon under an ITA approved sponsor. This is a 300 hour part time course, (Wednesday to Friday) 22.5 hours / week = 13.5 weeks approximately. The student enrolment contract will reflect the start and end dates and school attendance schedule. A copy of this contract will be provided to the student.
Professional Salon attire: Black, grey, and/or white attire, appropriate salon footwear, no “mini” skirts, shorts or jeans.
18 years of age or older. Under the age of 18 with written parental consent. Complete admission form including questionnaire. Submit resume and personal statement. Complete successful interview with school owner, Senior Educational Administrator of Del Rio Academy of Hair and Esthetics Ltd.
Upon completion of this course the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to perform the following: basic haircuts, perms, colours including foils, wet and dry styling, recognize scalp diseases and disorders, use proper sanitation procedures required for the industry, demonstrate proper reception duties, recommend and sell retail hairstyling products.
