Description: |
Students
in this program will learn artificial nail enhancements including
acrylic and gel nail applications, colored gels and acrylic applications
and nail art, as well as basic salon business skills. |

Prerequisites: |
Eligible
students must have successfully completed the Manicure/ Pedicure
Program with Del Rio Academy, OR must have successfully completed
an Esthetics program that included Manicure and Pedicure component. |
Textbooks
Required: Milady’s
Standard Nail Technician Text book and workbook.
Equipment
Required: Nail technician kit
to be purchased from beauty supplier (equipment list provided by
Del Rio Academy)

300 hours:
48 hours classroom theory, 252 practical hours Students may complete
120 hours of industry experience, up to 6 months following program
completion to improve Nail enhancement skills prior to final
practical exam. Home work expectations; Approximately 1-2 hours
each night |

The program
is delivered in the class room and salon The first 1.5 hours
in the morning are for classroom theory time. The students then
spend the remainder of the day, aside from lunch time and breaks,
working on each other or clients in the salon while supervised
by the instructor. Instructor: Student ratio, 1 instructor/ 6
students |

Course
Obejective:
Upon completion of this course the successful student will have reliably
demonstrated the ability to:
- Apply gel light cured nail enhancements to fingers
- Apply gel light cured nail enhancements to toes
- Apply acrylic nail enhancements
- Use sanitation practices including proper
sanitation
of implements and station
- Perform a client consultation
- Use and recommend correct products on and for clients
- Understand basic salon business

Assessments:
Upon completion of this course the successful student will have reliably demonstrated
the ability to:
Practical
- 1 hand gel nails with polish 50 min
- 1 hand acrylic with polish 50 min
- 1 foot with gel overlay 35 min
Theory & Practical Exams: 75% Passing Grade

Attendance
Expectations: 5
days/ week, 8:30 – 4:30
for the duration of the program for a total of 300 hours.
Dress
Expectations: Black lab coat or spa jacket,
white or black pants, white or black soft soled shoes.
Hair
must be tied back and head band worn during practical applications and/or
client services. |
